Astix is the name of a Cantharan footsoldier who is mentioned briefly in Chapter XLII of Violet Sword Blade. He and another infantryman, Orathes, are conversing about their armour and how it has been damaged in the fight, after fleeing from Dunac following their defeat at the Second Battle of Dunac, when a Danethan guard comes out of hiding and steals Orathes' horse, speeding back to Thelarnesis to warn the Emperor of Zethix Dakrannsson's plan to assassinate him.
